Welcome to the SoundTraxx Sound Room! Here you can listen to various prototypes and determine which is most suited to your model. The demos contain a variety of sounds (i.e., airpumps, fireman shoveling coal, bell, whistle, etc.). In addition to the whistles, Sierra steam sound systems have a variety of different bells, whistles, airpumps and dynamos recorded from the real thing. Remember that the digitally recorded chuff doesn’t care whether your locomotive is a 2-8-0 or a 2-6-0. The exhaust cadence be adjusted from engine to engine. Many of the whistles, while recorded from the engine listed, were used on other prototypes as well. We suggest you choose a whistle you like as opposed to trying to match wheel configurations or be prototypically correct.

Keep in mind that the reproduction of the sound will not have the fidelity of the sounds you will hear from your SoundTraxx sound systems. The files have been compressed and kept deliberately small for quick downloading. If you wish to hear the entire demonstration, visit us at the factory, a trade show or visit your dealer.

You should also consider your modeling expertise when choosing your Sierra Sound System. If you are a beginner to sound system installations, choose a sound system that is designed for the model (i.e., the Westside Shay for the Bachmann Shay) rather than the sound. It will come with detailed installation instructions and everything you need to get you going.
