Job Description
The Product Specialist has the primary responsibility of supporting the Sales Process by educating both the retailer and the consumer about all SoundTraxx product offerings. This person works to assess the customer’s current and future needs and helps to determine appropriate retailer stocking levels. The Specialist will take or accept orders and record them accurately into the Accounting system for fulfillment. Established methods and procedures are clearly established and provided.

The Product Specialist, while primarily a member of the sales team, has a number of responsibilities that cross over, or are collaborative with the marketing team. Exceptional customer service, answering all customer questions and concerns regarding SoundTraxx products and helping them make the most informed buying choices are key aspects of the position. The position requires the ability to demonstrate technical knowledge of our products, dispensed in a friendly, respectful and helpful manner. It is required that the Product Specialist be able to overcome barriers to closing the sale.

Key Tasks – Product Specialist

Establishes customers' needs and explain products to them, which may involve technical descriptions of products and how they may be used.
Makes telephone calls to existing and prospective customers.
Takes sales orders and follows procedures for recording them into the Accounting system.
Logs customer contacts including contact information for follow-up.
Works with other Sales Team members to follow up on new leads and referrals stemming from field activity.
Understands and articulates differences and advantages between SoundTraxx products and services and competitor’s products/services.
Supplies management with written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services as needed.
May participate in trade shows and conventions.
Collaborates with other departments to streamline customer communication.
Provides input to aid in the ongoing development and improvement of our website.
Provides exceptional customer support.
Accurately demonstrates product functionality.
Accurately communicates all technical specifications.
Seek self-improvement through mentoring and coaching from senior team members.
Complies with company policies at all times.
Education or Prior Experience – Product Specialist
Two years of practical experience in Railroading or Model Railroading or other hobby industry pursuits.

Travel
Occasional travel may be required for attendance at offsite meetings and/or tradeshows.
